Ever since she had graduated college, she had had big plans for her and Tucson. She had lived at a ranch in Ohio for a little while, teaching lessons and training horses, but after a while, Ohio just didn't seem to suit her anymore. She gave her week's notice and packed her and her horse up in the trailer and truck she had somehow managed to save up for. Her mother was quite rich, but she would never accept money from her, ever. The drive hadn't been too far, and she had even managed to secure a job. She was set to arrive at the stables on the day she was supposed to start, it would have probably been a good idea to arrive early, but everything had just happened so fast, she didn't have a lot of time to plan it out.
The ride had been boring, music played on the radio and she had to constantly stop. Tucson stayed in the trailer quietly and peacefully as they drove while Lana was in the front, yawning until she was sure her jaw was going to break. She managed to get in a few hours of sleep before she arrived at the barn, that would help her get through the day.
She pulled the truck and trailer into the parking lot of the stables, looking around with a sense of satisfaction. A smile came upon her delicate features as she turned off the truck and stepped out. Her riding boots and breeches had been what she always wore, thinking they were the most comfortable. It was decently warm out and so she only had a short-sleeve top on. As she stepped out she gave a huge stretch before walking around to the trailer. She let the ramp down and Tucson walked out, giving her a nudge in the side as he rubbed his head against her. Lana let out a laugh as she kissed her horse on the forehead, rubbing the spot just behind his ears that he loved to get scratched at. She took his leadrop in her hands closing up the trailer.
They walked together, side by side towards the barn. Tucson let out a loud whinny of excitement as he pranced a little in spot, the sun catching his striking palomino coat. She smiled as she patted his neck, looking around for anyone that she could talk to about what to do with her horse... and more importantly, herself.

Sophia reined in her mare, struggling to keep her from bolting off to wherever it was she wanted to go. Raven was tough to work when she wasn't in the ring, but she was a joy. Her heavy, feathered hooves pounded on the ground as she clopped toward the main barn. They'd been working on her Dressage, but then several other horses had come into the ring and she'd tried to start a fight. Sophia had been getting hungry anyway, so she'd decided to call it a day.
"Alright, Raven. Into your stall, girl. Please relax." she crooned, pulling tight on the reins again to steer her Friesian through the open barn doors. It was hot and humid inside, and the smell of old and new hay permeated the air. Sophia breathed deeply, appreciating the scent. Her fingers loosened, allowing Raven headway into her stall. The door was still ajar from when they'd vacated that morning for practice. In one swift motion, Sophia jumped from the saddle and closed the stall door. She couldn't let her horse bolt... Again. Patting her black flank, she began to unbuckle the saddle. A snort was all she got from her equine friend.
Sophia preceded to chatter about her dream the previous night, and what she'd had for breakfast, and how she wanted to volunteer at the vet soon. She put her saddle and bridle in their designated places, and brushed her. Unfortunately, someone pulled up in the parking lot nearby. Raven's ears perked up and she danced about, knocking Sophia back against the stall wall. She thrashed against the door, trying to get out to what was probably another horse. She was careful not to step on Sophia, but she wasn't standing still either.
"You're going to hurt yourself, Raven!" she was afraid that she would hurt her legs or jump the gate. She couldn't very well take her out either, though. It was one of the problems with having a 'spirited' horse. Grabbing the lead, she hooked it onto the halter and tugged gently. The neighing and whinnying stopped briefly as Raven allowed her head to be pulled around. She was sort of under control. Sophia bit her lip as she debated on what to do. "I-I guess maybe I could just see what it is going on. You don't fight unless you're under saddle..." keeping a firm hold on the thick rope, she carefully opened the door. Raven slowly walked out. She could be good when she got what she wanted.
They hastened through the doors. Sure enough, there was a new truck in the lot. A beautiful palomino horse and woman were standing near the trailer, probably having just vacated it. Raven tossed her head and began to prance. Sophia gave another tug, this one a little harder. "Hi." she murmured quietly. It probably sounded more like a slight sigh. her heart was beginning to beat and her hands were getting sweaty, like they always did when she talked to other people. Being with her horse helped.
I'm sorry, this isn't the best of posts. I promise they'll get better...

Lana was not aware of the trouble her and her horse's arrival had caused, she was so focused on just looking at all of her surroundings, she didn't even really hear the horse in the stable until the pair were walking out. A large smile broke out onto her face, looking at the horse before she would look at the human. She observed every feature of the midnight colored mare. A Friesian, one of Lana's favorite breeds, although often times she saw them used for dressage, which wasn't her strongest areas of riding. Lana found dressage too boring and collected, she loved to jump, it made her feel free and when she was out on a trail on her own with Tucson, they could just go wild.
Eventually, after every crevice of the mare had been looked at, Lana's eyes found the other girl's. She was very pretty, that was for sure, blonde hair, just like Lana. The girl pretty much whispered to her and Lana's smile just widened. "Hi! I'm Lana Alazne, the new instructor. What's your name?" She would walk forward a bit, holding her hand out to shake the other girl's.
Meanwhile, Tucson's deep, friendly brown eyes would lighten up as he saw the other horse. He let out a friendly whinny to her, a hello of his own sorts. His right front leg stuck out, pawing at the ground as his back legs got jittery with excitement. Lana turned back, tapping him lightly on the cheek, "Stop that!" Her voice was kind and soft, but it definitely was an order. Tucson knew that tone of voice and he let out a little whinny again, looking at the other male as he couldn't help but dance in place. Lana would flash the girl an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry, he just gets so excited to go to new places."
you're totally fine! your's was much better than mine are ;D, still trying to get a hang of rping horses & humans again! XD

Raven, enjoying the attention the stranger was giving her, arched her neck impressively and stilled for a moment. Although pretty, only one side of her was free of dust. She had never finished getting clean, as the sudden arrival of the lady and her horse had called a sudden halt to the proceedings. After the lady had finished looking her over, admiring her really, she tossed her rippled mane and leaned slightly against Sophia, who had been taking the time to admire the other horse. He was palomino, but had white spots like a dapple gray. He really was very beautiful, but nothing compared to her Friesian, of course.
Sophia was a little crestfallen when the woman, Lana, walked forward and offered her hand. She just could not do it. She could not manage to say anything. Instead, her hands went up and gripped Raven's halter, tugging her dark head down so that it blocked her from view. It was a childish thing to do, but it made sense at that particular moment.
Hi! I'm "Sophia." Welcome to the Saving Grace Ranch! It's an awesome place! You'll love it! As usual, she said lots in her head but only some of it came out. It wasn't a new development, unfortunately. As the subject switched the horses, she brightened ever so slightly and peeked out behind the massive head of her horse. "No need." to be sorry! Sophia promised, mostly in her head. It was pathetic and strange, really.
At just that moment, sensing she was no longer needed as a shield, Raven lunged toward the horse with a friendly, if rather loud, whinny to initiate greetings. It wasn't aggressive, but she did prance about with quite a bit of pushiness. She was bored. Sophia's hands were jerked forward as the lead became taught and almost slid through her fingers. Now it was Sophia's turn to apologize, and she did so quietly while she tried to reel in her mare but ended up just repositioning her so she wouldn't step on Lana.
No! Yours are awesome! I'm doing the same thing. I haven't done humans and horses in a long time! XD I haven't rped a character this shy in so long. I forgot how hard it was!

She didn't talk much, Lana noticed that as she introduced herself. Sophia's own hand did not mean Lana's, instead it found her horse. Lana let a small smile grace her lips, feeling a little at home that she was more comfortable with her horse than humans. Although Lana did not shy away from human contact, or seem to close up when other people were around, she was always most comfortable when she had a horse by her side, preferably Tucson.
She would not keep her hand out, instead she reached back, gripping on to the rope halter tied around Tucson's beautiful head, pulling him closer. He didn't hesitate for a moment, prancing right up to Lana's side and nuzzling her cheek softly, blowing hot air through his nose, making Lana giggle a little.
It was only then that Lana actually noticed that only half the horse was groomed. She let out a little giggle, mouth opening in a little "o" of surprise. "I'm sorry! Did we interrupt your grooming session!?" She smiled apologetically, though she didn't expect much of a response, based on how she had just accepted her other apology. Lana didn't mind of course, she found it a little amusing actually.
Tucson let out a squeal of surprise as the dark mare lunged towards him with a happy whinny. He tipped his head back, lifting his top lip in a horsey-like laugh. Another squeal would come from him, although this time it was from yet another greeting, happy and cheerful. Lana smiled up at her horse, laughing lightly as she wrapped an arm around his neck and leaned against him. He pranced a bit at first, brown eyes looking at his loving owner before they would return to the mare, a little interested in her.
SO sorry for the wait! life caught up w/ me <33
