THE RP-er;;OOC Name:
Peppermint (My real name is Caroline, but I've had the nickname Peppermint since college, from my college friends. It fits me quite well. XD )
Age:
24
Gender:
Female
Experience:
Several horse role plays, a few horse/rider ones, some wolf, some fantasy, etc. I've been role playing online since I was 19. I've been a mod/co-owner a few places. In the real world I have been a barn manager, helped start young horses, taken on several "projects" including off-track thoroughbreds, own one gorgeous wonderful Quarter Horse, and know my way around a barn (braiding, grooming, mucking, exercising). I think it adds a realism to my writing, but it also means I have real life horses I occasionally need to take care of.
Do you play any other characters on the site?:
no

January, 1993

Bisexual
Nationality:
USA
Job/Schooling:
Marc is a stable hand at the Stallion barn. He was a foster in the program but aged out. He did well enough that he got a job at the stable and is now attending Community College while working there.
Border, Barn Staff, Volunteer or Foster?:
Barn Staff
PHYSICAL;;Full Description:
Marc has a youthful face, with short cropped brown hair, that gets rather light come summer, and deep blue eyes. He stands 5'10" and is rather scrappy built, no heavy muscles, but certainly not flabby or weak. About 130 pounds. His skin is pale normally, but does get a healthy glow come summer and lots of time spent out of doors. Sometimes he is mistaken for a girl with how fine his face is, but he fails miserably at growing facial hair so he has given up that, and just tries to ignore being called "miss". His nose is rather pointy but not so large or long as to draw attention, and his eyes are wide, giving him an innocent appearance. Marc's neck is rather long, accented by prominent collarbones. Slender fingers on medium-large hands with short trimmed nails, with rough callouses from consistent barn work, and long legs, comparative to his torso. Like most guys this age, he is still a bit awkward and growing into himself.
Disabilities:
No known disabilities.

MENTAL;;Personality:
Marc is a bit rough around the edges. Blunt and to the point. If someone is where they aren't supposed to be, he is not always the gentlest person to approach the situation. He treats people like he treats the horses he cares for: he lets them know what is going on, whether they want to know or not. He may seem rude, but with his friends he laughs easy, and even smiles and talks. Marc tries hard to do his job to the best of his ability and stay out of trouble. He is trustworthy, loyal, and committed. He doesn't complain, and doesn't like others complaining. If you are going to whine, you may as well do something useful about it, he figures. He likes to think his troubled past is behind him. Though his tongue may get him in a fair amount of disputes, no one has any problems about his work ethic. Never late, always even tempered and fair with the horses, and willing to work long hours, never going away on vacation. Fairly easy if you don't have a family to go visit.

Getting his foot caught in the stirrup and being dragged to death. Getting addicted because he stupidly tries something. Never finding someone who loves and accepts him. Failing out of college. Ending up on the streets.
PAST;;History:
Marc was placed in the system around age 8 (his exact birth date is unknown, but supposedly it is in the winter). His mother was not caring for him, and someone noticed him picking out of dumpsters, because his mother was too busy getting heroine and then passing out. From the start he was hostile and agitated, not sure what the strangers wanted from him, and not knowing how to adjust to another life. He was bounced from home to home as he kept lashing out, trying to escape, and not fitting in/starting fights at public schools. His mother died 2 years after he was in the system and he blamed himself, and the state, that he was not there to take care of her.
It got to the point where no one could handle him. Several foster homes had mistreated him, and he had grown so angry and resentful he had just shut down, not even bothering to communicate. Luckily, a well meaning social worker suggested the program in Harrisbury. He arrived there at age 13. He found the school stuff and teachers predictably dull and annoying. But the horses, he could not be mad at the horses. He started hanging out in the barn as much as possible, even being helpful if it meant he could be there. And then he started talking during his sessions of equine assisted therapy. It was definitely a large improvement. It had taken years, but he had come out from his shell.
Not knowing where else to go, or what else to do, he offered to continue at the foster program as a stable hand for a bit of money and a place to live while he worked towards his Associate's in Equine Studies. He is not sure if he wants to eventually be a trainer, or perhaps a Veterinary Technician, but he does know he wants to continue with horses.

Coat Color: Blue Roan
Eye Color: Dark Brown
Markings or Brands: "VT" on left hind hip, the V slightly above/diagonal the T
Discipline(s): Eventing
Personality: Hot, a bit mouthy, tends to charge the jumps full force. Very brazen youngster. Not "bad" (no bucking, rearing, or bolting) but tends to be brazen, head strong, stubborn, and fast. Very curious, wants to please usually, though easily distracted from the task at hand. Both youth and being a stud make attention difficult.
History: When Marc graduated out of the foster program he went looking for a horse of his own. He hadn't had one as a student, and since he had decided to stay he thought it might be a good idea. He met Blue, a young, crazy Trakehner colt, and fell in love. It was his curious, ready alertness that caught his eye. He did plan to have to horse gelded, but roans are rare among warm-bloods, and the breeder really was only willing to let Marc take Mori if he could remain a stud for a while. Marc agreed, since he really just loved the colt, but does plan to get him gelded as soon as his days standing stud are finished (he is hoping sooner rather than later).
